Hello CE friends!! Seriously where did September go????? It’s okay…. my fave month is October. I just simply love Halloween!!
This month’s inspiration pic shows my love for Halloween. Simply be inspired by 1 element from the picture below and the twist is to make your project black and white. I will let a very teeny tiny bit of color slip on by 🙂
Now onto the Amazing DT projects!!
Marci BensingHello! This is Marci joining you for October’s Monthly Challenge with a set of Artist Trading Cards. I was inspired by all of the layers in the photo and love using BLACK AND WHITE! Please join us this month! CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS PRODUCTS USED (click on & go!) :GEARS: I colored them with a black sharpie. Mustache FLAIR: I placed and layered them with a dies cut mustache stamped with the word “hello”. Stars/Circle: I cut this into pieces for each card, colored with a black sharpie followed and used Color Box white ink followed by Glossy Accents.
I was inspired by this month’s challenge photo to create this Dia de Los Muertos Altered Doll. The project is mostly black & white (for this month’s twist) – but I cheated a little with some neutral for the dress and, of course, the red roses on the Sugar Skull and in her hair. Nicolle is the best and cut me a smaller version of the Sugar Skulls so I could do this project! I primed the small Sugar Skull with white gesso and used Fine Tip Sharpie to outline the details; next, I smudged the mouth with some Distress Ink in Black Soot and I used a thick sharpie to outline the outside of the skull and the eye/nose holes. Finally, I coated the sugar skull with a generous coat of Ranger Crackle Accents. For the shadowbox component of the project, I used the Crackled Brick Stencil with some Liquitex Resin Sand Texture Gel – then painted the box with black gesso and sponged white gesso on to highlight the texture. I added the Wrought Iron Fence 4 and the hanging lamp from the Lamp Post Set. I wanted these two chipboard pieces to look light white-painted wrought iron, so I primed them with white gesso and then sponged on a mixture of White Gesso, Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paint in White Pearl and Prima Art Ingredients Texture Powder. Finally, I added a piece of vellum to the back of the street lamp. There are lots more pictures of my Dia de Los Muertos Doll on my blog – so pop by if you’d like some more details and close-ups!
Hi everyone, I love Halloween projects, especially when I get the chance to recycle a product. I had this black and white picture frame that the glass had broken. I had this stored and just waiting for a crafty project. The inspiration came when I saw the skull of the image, I knew I just had to make a small mixed-media piece with my picture frame. I started by covering my melting skull and spider with a coat of black gesso. Then I added some touches of Art alchemy metallique wax antique gold and brushed Iron colors. If you have never seen my previous video, I suggest you check it out HERE. Next step was to add the spider web on the corners of my frame, I liked the natural look so I chose not to alter them. Then a few flowers, some drops of black and white gesso and you are ready to go. Come check out my blog or Instagram for more pictures and details. Can’t wait to see your projects ! Happy crafting !
Another month and a new fun challenge at Creative Embellishments The fun twist this month is to use Black and White.
I love the challenge and surprisingly I thought it was going to be easier than it was. I so wanted to throw in a pop of colour, but I held off and made a fun card and tag set. I started with the background. Making details on the background with the Crackle Brick Stencil and ink, I later highlighted with a aquarellable pencil. I used the Spiders, Creepy Trees and the Birds in the clusters. I used simple sprays to give them the black colour. I made a short video of the creative process here. I hope you all join the challenge.
Hi… Bev here with a fabulous black n white twist to the “Love” page using the flowers Rose Set 1 and butterflies set of 3 from the mood board. On the amazing chipboards I used copics and paint to colour them. Some of the flowers I matted in the background to add an opposite colour to make them pop off the page. Off to the bottom is an amazing flourish cluster of leaves Flourish Set 10 with both black n white colouring. The wedding photo is framed using the infinite circles frame. I used one of my very own sketches from CI and lots of stickers to accent my page.
For this challenge, I just had to make a baby’s first halloween layout. I love how we were challenged to make a black and white layout because otherwise I probably would have added color and I think this page is more striking this way. I knew as soon as I saw them that the Spider Web Corner Set and the Mini Web set would be perfect for this page. I also added words from the Baby Time Word Set and the Grades or Awards set to make my “Baby’s 1st halloween” title. I painted all of the chipboard on this page a deep matte black.
Hi there! This is such a fun time of the year for creating fun little works of art like this card and large tag set. I loved this challenge in black and white but I must admit I had a hard time not adding a little color! Other than the skeleton and cauldron (inside the card) I painted everything with flat black paint. On the card I used Halloween Witches, and Going Batty. Inside the card I used a piece from the Witch Set and Bats. For the Large Tag, I started by stamping with the Paint Splat Trio Stamp. Then I used the Halloween Stencil to make the spider web and sentiment. The Skeleton is painted with white Ranger paint dabber. Then I added the large Bat and Spider to finish it off. I hope you’ll join in our fun challenge this month!
Hi Everyone and Happy October! I love October…new Fall colors to play with and scary themed projects to make. My project is a Halloween Tag. I used one of the chippy Large Tags to start. I adorned it with a few chippy Birds, some Baby’s Breath and topped it off with a cute Boo Flair! Have fun playing along and I can not wait to see what you make!!!!!!!!
