Bold & Beautiful Layout

Hey there Creative Embellishments friends! Tracy here and today I have a layout to share created using photos of 2 of my favourite gals, you’ll probably see more of them in future posts. These are my beautiful daughters who happen to be all grown up. One in university and the other working overseas. So when I have them together, I make sure I take LOTS of photos.

I wanted to create a pretty, but BOLD layout using these photos. So I opted for the black accents and the Flirty Fleur Collection from Prima. Here are all of the details.

Firstly I used 2 of the Fancy Rectangle Frame Sets, as I wanted the 2 ornate frames the same size for my photos. I started by painting them with black acrylic paint from DecoArt. I will often use a foam stencil brush for painting my chipboard, I just find it gives such a nice coverage and no streaks. Once I was happy with the paint coverage, I went back and added wet paint here and there over both frames, then immediately added black fine glitter. It stuck just to the wet paint. I didn’t want complete coverage.

I did the same treatment with the leaves from the Autumn Leaves Set using black paint. Only this time I wanted the entire leaf covered in the black glitter, so while the whole piece was still wet, I added the glitter and let dry.

I trimmed my photos to fit beneath the 2 frames. Then matted them with a slightly larger piece of coordinating patterned paper. I wanted to create the illusion of them hanging on the layout, so I used ivory silk ribbon, knotted and adhered to the layout. Then added the framed photos using 3D foam.

I then added a flower in between the framed photos, and in clusters on the sides. I added the glitter leaves around the clustered flowers.

I added a few more embellishments here and there around the layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
