Happy Monday CE friends! The weekends go by way too fast. I spent the weekend decorating an advent calendar I cut with the laser out of wood for my grandson. I bought the pattern from etsy. I haven’t mastered creating 3d designs.
It;s been so long since I altered anything. I struggled with what sort of scene I wanted to create inside the middle of the calendar. I will add more if I can come up with any other ideas. I started with a tree shaker. I painted it with green distressed paint. I decided to add little fairy lights to it. I punched a hole and fed the lights through and added glue around the hole so nothing would fall out. I filled the tree with some green, white and red sequins, green glitter and seed beads. I never know how much to add. When it was flat it looked full. Next time I will add more.
I altered the rocker using distress stains and paints. I cut out Arthur’s name from wood and painted it red. I then applied red and green glitter.
For the numbers… I took the original chipboard designs and shrunk them down to an inch and engraved the numbers in so they would better fit on the drawers. I left them in there natural state. I also cut wood veneer snowflakes and stars and scattered them throughout. Also not altered.
The wreath was created using the merry christmas piece from the Christmas ATC coin set. I simply painted red and added red and green stickles. I added leaves and little jingle bells to further embellish.
I added brick pieces to the sides for added interest. I altered them with TH stain, red paint and swiped with black ink to give that sort of natural look. Thinking I should have added some heavy gesso for a snowy effect.
I added octagon shingles to the roof. I altered them with copper texture paste and heavy gesso.
There you have it ..It’s completed at least for this year. I will be adding little cars and dinosaurs to the drawers. Maybe some money ..not sure about candy.
Just a reminder ..Cyber Monday 30% off sale ends tonight at 11:59pm.
Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing holiday season.
