Wow it’s already time for our February challenge. It’s love month here in the U.S. Valentine’s day. I always call it a hallmark holiday. Shouldn’t everyday be love day..? 😉 It’s also the month the hubs and I celebrate our anniversary. We were married on the 12th, 22 years ago.
I thought it would appropriate for a heart filled inspiration photo. Please be inspired by at least one element in the photo and the twist is use an ombre effect anywhere on your project. For example on your background, on a chippie piece, or layered papers…etc
Let us know what you were inspired by in this picture and where you used the ombre effect. I am sure it will be obvious though. 😉
Now onto all the amazing DT projects.
Hi all! Here’s my take the loveliest and the most inspiring inspiration picture ever! I love the ombre effect, and I loved doing it on these Diamonds Chipboards. I used white gesso, and mix of white gesso and pink acrylic paint to paint the ombre effect, the technique is super easy but it gives the wow-effect to any of your chippies. I also used Distressed Crackle Stamp to the background, along with lots of spray mists and pencil doodling. I had so much fun with this challenge, I hope you’ll have too!
Hi everyone! This months challenge inspired me to create this tag to add to my hubbys Valentine’s Day gift. I used the yummy Distressed Checkered Stamp on the background first. The title is a piece from the Valentine’s Hashtag Set and the wings behind the heart are from Wings Set 4. For the twist – ombre/gradient effect- on chipboard piece, I first painted them with gesso, added some distress ink on the bottom and Shimmerz paints on the rest.
Every dream begins with a dreamer. I have had this canvas in my stash just waiting for the perfect inspiration. I think of February as a month of day dreams. With Creative Embellishments I found the perfect pieces for this dream catcher. I started with this lacey doily and then followed with Flourish Clock, Chain Boarder, Ivy Spray, Twig Frame with fall leaves, Birds. You can see the soft pink ombre affect throughout the layers which I created with several different pink paint mists. Hop over to my blog see how I put it all together.
For the March challenge, I altered a muffin tin from the dollar store and went chippie crazy. This was so much fun to make. I rusted then grunged out the tray using crackle paint, spiced marmalade distress stain and using texture stamps including the distress crackle stamp. At the top of the tray, I used the Steampunk Heart. In the cups in back of most of the images I used pieces of the harlequin and chicken wire panels. For the cups starting at the top left: Love true – I created the ombre effect over the three hearts using alcohol inks on metal charms; the dress form is Prima and the wings and sentiment are Tim Holtz; Let the love flow – I used the distress crackle stamp to distress the pipework chippies. To get the metal effect on the chippies I added DecoArt aged patina paint and finished off with some aged embossing powder; Steampunk heart with gears in various sizes; The image on the bottom is from Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante. I used gears and a heart from Petaloo and I am roses.; for the last compartment I used a feather and a prima nest and sign, and a TH bird charm.
For this month’s challenge, I used a variety of CE goodies to make a lovely layout of my youngest daughter! The picture inspired me to add lots of pinks into my page, as well as a heart and an overall “love” theme! I created my background using various stencils, molding paste, and the Distressed Checkered Stamp. I layered on a bunch of different papers, flowers, and embellishments before adding my desired chipboard pieces! The Flourish 22 was primed before adding an “obmre effect” with my colors using a number of gelatos! I applied the same effect to the wooden Heart, adding some liquid pearls for added accents!
Since my favorite color is pink that’s what I decided to go with for this layout of my hubby and I. I was inspired by the colors, hearts, chicken wire and flourishes in the picture above. Its a bit hard to tell but my I Love You title piece and wooden heart has an omber effect of off white, light pink and a slightly darker pink. The same was used on the lovers heart. I simply dabbed some antique linen distress paint on the cut apart chicken wire panel. I also stamped the distressed chicken wire stamp image by spraying some pink mist on the stamp. The heart flourish corner pieces I dabbed some antique linen distress paint and 2 prima chalk edgers in 2 different color pinks. The frond was also altered using a chalk ink edger. I stamped the distressed music note sheet on the background using a dark pink chalk ink edger. Lastly I added some wood veneer conversation hearts.
What a great challenge photo this month! So many ways to be inspired by it. I drew inspiration from the color pink and from all of the hearts. I chose a pink colored backround paper with the ombre effect already there and then i also created an ombre effect on the line of Heart shapes using paint. I used the Basic Alphabet to spell out some of my title and I painted the letters with navy blue paint to match the patterned paper that i used to mat the background.
For me, the February challenge is all about love, not only romantic love, but love for everything such as children, animals and nature. I decided to create a layout with some paints, inks, sprays, stencils and modelling paste. I was totally inspired by the hearts and the feeling of love in the challenge so I went with somewhat of a heart theme and stamped my background with the Circles Stamp, added some wood veneer Hearts and painted the chipboard Valentine’s Hashtags (#xoxo) with a light shade of pink acrylic paint and added a darker shade of pink acrylic paint on the top of the chipboard. I did the exact same thing with the Hot Air Balloon chipboard. Gold is so trendy at the moment and I wanted to add some gold so I added some ribbon and a gold doily.
Hi all! I have been on a creative journey this month. This is an Art Journal book I created for this months challenge. Me and Mojo have been going back and forth and not getting along well at all. What I want to create it doesn’t. So I gave in this month and just went with it. Finnabair has been my inspiration artist this month my mojo loves her creations and so do I! 🙂 I normally don’t create with black but this month has been a exception. lol Using the inspiration pic I chose to use the hearts from the photo and use a couple of the wooden veneer hearts I colored them both with waterdown gesso misted the puzzle piece one with some black 13 Arts mist on the lower half and blend it a little with water to give the Ombre effect (challenge twist) also highlighted a few of the puzzle pieces with read silks in Carmen red. The base pieces are Steampunk Christmas ornament (makes a great base piece!) covered in black gesso. The Steampunk Frame goes up the side of my cover. I cover this piece in half black gesso and half black gesso. I have used all sizes of the Gears. Some are covered in black gesso and some white. The 911 is the chucky Alpha. The BG of the entire piece is a Creative Embellishment distressed screen stamp. Love the grunginess to this piece! Lots of fun ways to play with the challenge this month! Give it a go and don’t fight mojo! She always wins!! 🙂
