It’s a new month and time for a new challenge!! Happy October!! Halloween is one of my fave holidays next to Thanksgiving. I am quite the goth girl at times. I tend to like hard rock, heavy metal and alternative music too. Skulls and skeletons are so cool to me. Okay I am prob a lil weird..;)
I found the pic below perfect for this months challenge. As usual you only need to be inspired by one of the elements from the picture. Don’t forget to let us now which one you were inspired by in your blog post. For the twist add something made of metal to your project.
Hi friends, I find the inspiration picture very nice ! I was inspired by colors yellow/orange/red. I worked my background layer by layer. I made black stamps with Distressed Crackle Stamp and Distressed text stamp, stuck masking tape and with a stencil, I added modeling paste and black gesso to bring of the volume. I embossed the Spider Web Corner Set as well as the Halloween Witches with embossing powder. For the Halloween Witches, I did a double embossing with the black for the body and copper for the broom. For the twist, I added metal cats. Hope this inspired you to create with us this month. See you Soon 🙂
Hi everyone;)I was in love with this challenge as soon as I saw it! This month inspiration photo inspired me to do Mr. Bones scary house.I love the orange, red and black in the inspo pic. For the background I used mists orange and candy apple red (tattered angels ) and black pigment ink . I used Papers Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells to make this house more scary . I used creepy gate and fence which I coloured with a matte black , mika powder ad crackle accents . I altered creepy trees with a ink spray slate grey and some mika powder rust and gold. Lamp and owl on branch were give a coat of black ink and some gold mika powder. Fo the twist I added metal skull, keys and chain with a witch . Hope to see you all playing along with us this month.
Toni BurksHi everyone… can you believe Halloween is right around the corner, we better get started on some holiday decor. The image this month as well as the colors really inspired my canvas art. My bat was created using a paper mache egg and I crackled the paint for his body. The inside background of the canvas was embossed and then sprayed with Dylusions for pretty vivid colors. I wanted to incorporate the hat that was in the photo, so I gave my little bat a top hat which then gave him a steampunk vibe so I add the small cogs to the hat and used the medium cogs for the base of the eyes. thought my Steampunk Wings from Creative Embellishments would be perfect for this little guy. I also used “The Freaks Come Out At Night” chipboard piece for my title. The twist on our challenge this month is to add something metal to your piece as well as inspiration from the photo, so my metal will be the legs and feet I created from metal wire, and the wings were covered with metal plumbers tape. Check out my blog for lots more photos and a step x step tutorial. Have a BOO-tiful month !
Hi everyone! Here’s my take on the challenge. I choose to make an Hallowen picture frame to showcase my 3 monsters;) . I used an old frame that I had already. I first stamped with gold ink with the Distressed crackle stamp. While it was drying (it’s a bit long for gold ink) I painted my spooky from the Scary word set with a green silk paint. The 2 Halloween witches were sprayed with gold colorshine from Heidi Swapp and to complete my frame I choose 2 little wood veneer bats from the Going batty set sprayed with purple Dylusions from Ranger. This purple is vibrant and gives a nice pop of color. For the twist I have this tiny metal skull under my purple flower!
Are you scared yet?? LOL! Sure are some mighty spooky projects here to inspire you! I was inspired by the creepy Halloween photo itself and decided to make a scene on canvas where I thought this fellow would be right at home! I used lots of mists, chipboard pieces, and a metal fence for the twist. I used pieces from the Halloween Scene Set 1 and Halloween Scene 2 for the houses, pumpkins, title, graveyard, and bats. I also used pieces from Creepy Trees, Owl on a Branch, Seagrass, and Halloween Witches.
To create the background I layered on lots of mists, drying between coats.
I used Stampendous Spice Aged Embossing Enamel on the title and pumpkins and then hit them with a touch of orange ink for good measure! The trees were embossed with Ranger Distress embossing powder in Walnut Stain. The owl and bats are embossed with Stampendous aged black embossing enamel. I used Ranger Antiquities cement embossing powder on the tombstones. I cut the cats from black cardstock on my Silhouette and then covered with Ranger Glossy Accents. The houses and are just misted with black mist and then I added a little walnut stain to them and put dark gray cardstock behind the windows. I used fine detail black embossing powder on the witch’s dress and Lindy’s Midnight Gold embossing powder on her hat. Of course, I painted her face green ’cause in my mind all wicked witches have ugly green faces!
Amd finally for the twist, I used a metal fence that I used a Ranger silver paint dabber on as well as a few dabs of espresso and copper. Then I rubbed some black ink over it to dull the silver color a bit. More photos on my blog where you can see the finishes better.
Hi everyone! This months inspiration photo so much fun to create from! I chose to do a spooky themed layout. I used the NEW Skull Flourish Corner Set, Scary Word Set and some Distressed Text stamping in the background. They are all finished with black gesso. I hope you all play along with this month challenge!
Hi all!! I just adore this month’s challenge inspo pic!!! Creepy and cool all the same!! Perfect for this spooky month!! I love the BG I used the pumpkin that skeleton man is holding. I used it as my main piece on my creepy canvas. Easy to color the Pumpkin face too! Just cover with gesso and then color with Faber Castell big brush pen. Then stamp with the Distressed Grid stamp in random areas, back with some yellow paper. The Halloween Fence set and Creepy Tree was covered with a big brush pen too. The tree was kissed here and there with some 13 Arts old gold metallic paint. I also used a couple of other bg stamps from CE to give more texture and spooky feel to my backgrounds. The tag I have used the Distress Screen and then the main BG the Distress Script stamp. Hope to see the inspo rolling in for this months challenge!! Was a blast to make and CE has TONS of Cool and spooky chippies to play with!!
Hi friends! I was inspired by the skeleton in the picture above. For the twist I added lil metal skull and bones. I altered all the chip pieces first with either white gesso for the grass and hands, heavy gesso for the bones and coarse pumice mixed with modeling paste for the headstones. I cut apart the tombstone border to create the graveyard scene. I used TH distress paints in mowed grass, weathered wood and vintage photo to alter the border piece. The skull and bones were altered with white picket fence and I swiped black ink across each piece. The zombie hands were altered using TH mowed grass, vintage photo and weathered wood. The wood veneer bats were altered with black soot and white gesso. The clock I custom made. However you could create something like it using one of the mini pocket watches with bat wings. I altered the clock part with pewter lumiere paint. The wings I altered the same as the bats. I meant to splash some red paint all over but totally forgot to. I may still do that 😉
Happy Halloween! This is my favorite time of year! This months challenge photo was awesome. I started with a wooden coffin shadowbox that I purchased at Michael’s. Using the Mini Webs and the bats and RIP grave stone from the Halloween Scene 2. For the twist I used a metal 31 tag and a metal skull cross bones. Hope you all find inspiration in the photo and play along!
Hi CE friends. Sharing my take on this spooky challenge. I altered a spring bird house. I tried to make these little pumpkins rotten ones by first coloring them with orange acrylic colors and then spraying black ink and wiping off the extra ink.The highlight of this cage is Skull with wings. I covered it with gesso and then spread think black ink and wiped off extra . for the wings colored them with orange gelato , the hat with purple pearl powder and then outlined it with liquid pearl medium.I have placed a cauldron inside with a broom , and pumpkin in it.
Hope you will like it and play along with us in this fun challenge.
